The use of infrared in industry was introduced in the 1930's. Since
then the technology has become smaller and more versatile making it
practical to be implemented as a tool for engineering and
maintenance teams to use it in preventive and predictive
maintenance programs. We at DTI know the importance of
maintaining not only equipment in a building, but also the building
that holds that equipment. There are 3 main focus points in our
infrared scans. These points can be either quoted individually, or
packaged together. Below is a brief description of each scan and how
it is conducted. Please note that every building and structure is
unique, pricing and time at a location can vary. Please contact us for
further information about your facility.
* Electrical Infrared scan- An electrical scan is conducted on a facility
to determine many things. With the Infrared technology, we are able
to see what cannot be seen with the naked eye. There is a fine line
between Infrared light and visual light. Before an electrical problem
becomes an equipment problem or even worse a fire hazard, we are
able to detect them. Many different things can cause heat in an
electrical circuit. The infrared camera can in most cases, pinpoint the
problems and reduce the amount of trouble shooting involved. Prior
to arriving at your facility we ask that you have the covers removed
from the panels in areas where this is possible. There is a lot of
argument on whether a scan can be performed with covers on. YES it
is true that you can see heat on a breaker with a cover on, but we at
DTI aren't concerned with finding heat, we are concerned with
finding the PROBLEM!
* Flat roof scans- A roof scan is conducted to determine a leak
without destruction of the roof. We all know that replacing an entire
roof can be extremely costly. We at DTI use our cameras to locate
water being retained just under the roof surface. This scan is best
conducted just after sundown. The water that is below the surface
retains the heat longer than the rest of the roof. Weather conditions
need to be clear and dry for this scan to be conducted. Also a roof
must be cleared of any debris or standing surface water. With a roof
scan, our office will be in contact with your facility a couple days prior
to be sure the weather is optimal, and the required preparations have
been conducted.
* Building diagnostic- This scan is conducted to determine the
integrity of building insulation, air leaks around doors and windows,
finding water leaks, moisture in walls and ceilings, possible mold or
insects. Our thermographer will arrive at your facility and take
numerous infrared images of your facility both inside and out. With
our cameras, we are able to see where your facility may be able to
save thousands if not tens of thousands of dollars in energy loss.
* Energy Consultation- Many companies have become very cautious
when it come to energy and cost. With our cameras we are able to see
those dollars leave your pocket in the form of heat. Heat is energy,
and energy is costly. Our technician will walk your building with
someone from your facility or a contractor if you desire one, and go
over the key issues he or she has found.
